West metro suburban residents: Now is the time to prove your city is best — or at least, the most fit.

From Maple Grove to Minnetonka, 22 cities are competing in Hennepin County's fifth annual "Step To It Challenge" to prove which city has the most active residents. Top fitness fanatics won't just get bragging rights for logging the most steps in the four-week contest, they'll also score free Twins tickets.

Last year, Brooklyn Park won first for most active community with the most overall steps, while Rogers took No. 1 for most active community with the highest average steps per participant.

Residents have to track daily activity using a pedometer or conversion chart, and anything goes — from walking to cleaning or gardening. Registration for the contest, which runs from May 1 to May 28, is open all this month.

The campaign is coordinated by the Hennepin County Human Services and Public Health Department. Go to www.steptoit.org for more details or to register.
