Robbinsdale school district officials evacuated the School of Engineering and Arts in Golden Valley Monday afternoon after about 10 children and a couple of staff members reported feeling sick.

All 420 students, teachers and staff in the K-5 school at 1751 Kelly Dr. were transported to Robbinsdale Spanish Immersion School about 2 p.m., district spokeswoman Tia Clasen said.

"When you have that many people feeling ill, we thought it was wise to bring in first responders and test the air quality," she said.

No one was hospitalized, and those who felt ill were reportedly fine a short time later, Clasen said. On Monday afternoon, buses changed their pickup locations and took students home at their regular dismissal time shortly after 3:30 p.m., Clasen said.

Those who normally walk to school were shuttled with staff back to the School of Engineering and Arts and allowed to walk home, but not to re-enter the school.

Updates were posted on the district's website — http://rdale.org.
