A trial date was set for Carl Eller, the legendary Minnesota Vikings defensive end who is charged with fourth-degree assault and terroristic threats, both felonies, in an incident involving a violent scuffle with Minneapolis police.

Eller allegedly hit and threatened two officers who had tried to arrest him on April 9 for drunken driving and fleeing police. The Pro Football Hall of Famer also was charged with drunken driving and refusing to submit to a sobriety test, both gross misdemeanors, in connection with the incident.

Eller appeared in Hennepin County District Court for two minutes today and was silent. A pretrial hearing was scheduled for July 29 and a trial for Nov. 4.
