After almost 10 years, Maple Grove police are still looking for answers in an unsolved hit-and-run case.

On Feb. 20, 2003, Rebecca Nelson was struck by a vehicle as she walked to the Maple Grove Community Center after parking her car in an overflow lot. She died after being rushed to North Memorial hospital in Robbinsdale.

No one who may have witnessed the incident has come forward and police say that, without fresh leads, they need the public's help.

"We're hoping that somebody will have remembered seeing a vehicle," said detective Tanya Petz. "We're trying to refresh somebody's memory."

Over the years, police have put up posters around town and released media briefs. They're bringing the incident back into the public eye as the 10-year mark approaches in hopes of closing the case.

"We're looking for closure for the family and for the police department," Petz said.

Crimestoppers continues to offer a $1,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in the case.
