Man pleads guilty for role in Twin Cities prostitution ring

Last update: May 12, 2008 - 11:20 PM

A man charged with helping transport women across state lines for a Twin Cities brothel operation pleaded guilty Monday in federal court.

Craig J. Kraft, 59, pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit an offense against the United States.

According to court documents, Kraft helped Liqing Liu, aka Jeff Liu, book airline tickets for women, many of them Asian, to staff an illegal sex business that Liu is charged with running out of locations in Minneapolis, Bloomington and St. Louis Park last year.

The prostitutes lived in one of the locations and paid Liu for room and board, as well as part of the fees they earned for sex acts. One South Korean woman, in the United States illegally, told law enforcement officers that she paid a smuggler $5,000 to get her across the border from Canada, then turned to prostitution to support herself.
