An Edina physician has lost his privilege to work without supervision after the Minnesota Board of Medical Practice found this month that he provided inappropriate care to several female patients.

While treating patients for hormone, thyroid and reproductive conditions, Dr. Lyle E. Lundblad allegedly prescribed "inappropriately high doses of medications" and failed to address discrepancies in lab results and document patients' consent to the use of testosterone, a medication not approved for use in females, the board's order said.

The board directed Lundblad to undergo a skills assessment, which found his "clinical judgment and reasoning ... to be inadequate." Lundblad was reprimanded and must practice in a residency-like or "educational intervention" program.
