EDINA

Help plan bikeways

Applications are being taken for appointment to the Bike Edina Task Force, which is figuring out how to make proposals for new bikeways work. The task force has already produced a report on new bikeways that would connect to destinations such as schools as well as to regional bike trails.

The task force usually meets at City Hall on the second Thursday of the month. Meetings last about an hour.

To get an application or for more information, visit "permits and applications" on the city website at www.cityofedina.com or contact Kirk Johnson at 612-916-9966 or at kirk.johnson@logan.logic.com. Applications must be received by 4:30 p.m. on May 16.

Hold that match

Recreational fires are prohibited in Edina for the next four to six weeks because of warming temperatures and dry vegetation, Fire Chief Marty Scheerer has announced. Historically, 80 percent of all wildfires in Minnesota occur in April and May.

Edina residents still can get a recreational fire permit on the city of Edina website but will not be allowed to have a fire until the ban is lifted.

When the ban is over, residents still will need to call 952-826-0398 before starting a fire to make sure burning is allowed.

Questions about the ban can be answered at 952-826-0378.
