MacPhail selects new Dakota ComboThe seventh edition of The Dakota Combo, a high school jazz ensemble, has been selected following auditions by the MacPhail Center for Music and the Dakota Foundation for Jazz Education.

The Combo will rehearse and perform throughout the year under the direction of Adam Linz, the jazz coordinator at MacPhail.

Students selected are Jackson Mullet, trumpet, from Eden Prairie High; Jack Courtwright, trombone, from Apple Valley High; Peter Goggin, alto saxophone, from Mounds View High; Zosha Warpeha, violin, from the Perpich Center for Arts Education; Levi Schwartzberg, vibraphone, from Minneapolis Southwest High; Will Kjeer, piano, from the St. Paul Conservatory for Performing Artists; Sam Worthington, bass, from Mounds View High; and Benjamin Beyene, drums, from Roosevelt High in Minneapolis.

Friends of the Arts seeks board membersThe St. Louis Park Friends of the Arts is seeking board candidates with expertise in strategic planning, marketing, fundraising and graphic design.

Applicants should live in the city and be passionate about the arts. Board members serve three-year terms and must attend events and monthly board meetings.
