MINNETONKA

Conductor honored after 50 years

Dan Geldert, conductor of the Music Association of Minnetonka's Concert Band, will mark his 50th year of conducting this weekend.

The concert band will perform at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Minnetonka High School auditorium. A reception honoring his achievement will follow the performance. The concert is free, but donations to the Music Association of Minnetonka are accepted.

Geldert worked as a music teacher at Minnetonka High School for 35 years and started the concert band 10 years ago even though he has lived out of state much of that time, trekking back 12 times a year for rehearsals and two concerts.
