WEEK OF AUG. 13TH
Fire. Large burning embers were landing on the green at Chaska Town Course, 3000 Town Course Drive. A homeowner nearby was burning carpet, newspapers, leaves and branches. He was cited for violating the city's open burning ban.
Suspicious activity. A person reported there were 50 bright lights moving in the sky that night. The lights were not connected to anything. An officer told the person there was a meteor shower occurring that evening.
Theft. Earrings valued at more than $9,000 were stolen from a home on the 2400 block of Bridle Creek Trail.
Theft. Jewelry valued at $15,000 was stolen from a home on the 100 block of Hunters Court.
Fire. A resident on the 20800 block of County Road 50 was cited for allowing an unattended smoldering fire and was given a verbal warning for failure to obtain a burning permit.
Domestic. A man reported being scratched in the face by a woman at a home on the 20200 block of Hackamore Road. The woman reported the man spit in her face. Both parties agreed to separate for the evening.
Suspicious person. Officers responded to a home on County Road 116 and Meister Road regarding a suspicious person on the farm property. A 28-year-old man was located and he told officers he was watching the meteor shower. He was advised to move along.
Burglary. A vehicle was stolen from a home on the 4100 block of Sunnyside Road. The residence was unsecured.
Suspicious activity. Someone reported a noise on Oxford Street and Texas Avenue. It was discovered the noise was being caused by acorns falling from the tree onto the tin roof.
Suspicious activity. Boys were reported running up the 300 block of 17th Avenue N. Officers located the boys and they were seeing who could run home the fastest.
Theft. A woman reported a bottle of vodka was stolen from her apartment on the 600 block of Robinwood Lane.
Theft. A 1997 Geo Prizm was stolen from the 15500 block of 60th Avenue N. The keys were in the vehicle and it was unlocked. The vehicle was later recovered in Minneapolis.
Underage drinking. Six underage adults were cited for alcohol violations on the 15500 block of 46th Avenue N.
Weapons. An anonymous caller reported a pressure bomb in a garbage can at a park on the 4300 block of Zachary Lane N. The area was searched and a bomb was not found.
Robbery. A 71-year-old woman was robbed at knifepoint of $210 cash by an unknown male, 30 to 40 years old, at her apartment on the 600 block of 18th Avenue N. She had let him in because he stated he was there to fix her television. She had reported a problem with her television to Comcast earlier.
Animal call. A parakeet was found on Ingerson Road.
Underage drinking. Two adult females and one juvenile female were cited for underage consumption and two men were arrested on outstanding warrants at a home on the 10500 block of 10th Street.
Burglary. Someone stole $2,000 from a business on the 600 block of Lewis Avenue N.
