Scam. The Minnesota State Lottery is warning the public about an e-mail scam that tells people they've just won $940,000 from the "Minnesota State Lottery Sweepstake Lottery" program held on March 6. The e-mail appears to be from the Minnesota State Lottery and asks for personal information and money for a wire transfer or mailing costs. Actual lottery winners are never asked to pay up-front costs to collect a prize. People who get this e-mail should not respond. Instead, they should forward it to the Department of Public Safety's Gambling Enforcement Division at dps.reportfraud@state.mn.us or call the Minnesota Attorney General's office at 651-296-3353.
