Authorities are warning boaters to take extra precautions on Lake Minnetonka after a spree of thefts in the past week.

From alcohol to tools to radios and TVs, boats docked on the lake have had items snatched in at least 16 thefts reported to the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office. The crimes took place at marinas and private residences on Tonka Bay, Orono, Mound and Spring Park.

A surveillance video of one incident is posted online at www.startribune.com/a1578. Anyone with information should call 763-525-6216.

Authorities remind boaters to take extra precautions such as removing electronics and other valuable items, using security lights and securing hatches and lockers.
