One died in Lake Minnetonka; other fell in St. Croix River.
Search teams on Wednesday found the body of a 20-year-old Minnetonka man who drowned while boating on Lake Minnetonka. But the search continued Wednesday on the St. Croix River near Prescott, Wis., for a 65-year-old man who slipped off a dock.
The 20-year-old man was boating with friends near Big Island when he jumped off the boat about 4:30 p.m. to go for a swim. He apparently began to struggle and then never resurfaced, said Hennepin County Sheriff's officials. The four other people on the boat were unable to find him.
The Sheriff's Office dive team, with the help of the Long Lake Fire Department, recovered his body about 6:20 p.m. Wednesday about a mile from Big Island in 67 feet of water.
The Hennepin County Medical Examiner has not yet released the man's name.
Meanwhile, recovery teams used boats, divers and sonar equipment on Wednesday as they searched the St. Croix River for Merriett Maul, who fell into the river while stepping onto the dock from his boat. Maul, of Welch, had been boating with his wife and others Tuesday evening.
"Someone else on the boat dove in and tried to get him but was unsuccessful," said Pierce County Sheriff Nancy Hove. "He went down and they just couldn't grab him."
