A 37-year-old Oakdale man was killed after his car went out of control and crashed into a semitrailer truck Tuesday morning in western Hennepin County, authorities said.

According to the State Patrol:

The crash happened about 6:45 a.m. on Hwy. 12 near County Road 6 in Orono.

The victim was driving a 1992 Honda Accord westbound on Hwy. 12 when he lost control, hit a wall and crossed into the eastbound lane, colliding with a 2007 Mack semi.

The Honda driver's name has not yet been released.

The semi's driver, Dale Poirier, 60, of Dassel, Minn., suffered minor injuries.

The pavement was wet at the time. Alcohol was not a factor, and both people involved wore seatbelts.

Late Monday, a man died after a truck went off the road at about 10:30 in Nicollet County. Two men were in a 1999 Ford truck when it veered off Hwy. 14, skidded across County Road 25 and rolled into a field, according to the State Patrol.

The men were ejected.

Brent Lehnen, 19, of Albany, Minn., died at the scene and Derek Stavish, 21, of Little Falls was taken to New Ulm Hospital to be treated for injuries that were not life-threatening, according to the State Patrol.

It was unknown who was the driver and who was the passenger.
