A motorcyclist died Wednesday afternoon after the driver lost control and broadsided a truck on a Hennepin County road.

At about 4 p.m. Wednesday, Gene Kokesh, 58, of Minnetonka, was exiting from southbound Highway 169 to westbound Bass Lake Road near the interchange on the edges of Plymouth and New Hope when the driver lost control of the Yamaha motorcycle, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

Kokesh crossed westbound lanes, jumped the median divider and was thrown from the motorcycle. Both the driver and bike then collided with a truck going eastbound on Bass Lake.

The 32-year-old Plymouth man who was driving the truck, which was also pulling a trailer, escaped with no apparent injuries.

There were no hazardous materials present, and the road conditions were dry.
