Two held in shooting that killed St. Paul teenager

A 15-year-old boy was shot to death Thanksgiving morning in St. Paul and two people have been arrested, although police say they are still trying to figure out whether the shooting was accidental.

Officers were called to a vacant house at 38 E. Maryland Av. just after 10 a.m. on reports that a young man was shot after a gun was accidentally discharged. When police arrived, they found the victim dead with a gunshot wound to his upper body.

His name was not released.

Four other people were also in the house when police arrived, and they have been cooperating with investigators during questioning, St. Paul police spokesman Sgt. Paul Schnell said.

He said police are in the very early stages of the investigation, and are trying to determine the exact circumstances of the shooting.

A man and a juvenile male were arrested after the shooting and are being held on a probable cause charge of murder.

Their names and ages were not released.

Police found the gun used in the shooting nearby, in the 1100 block of Sylvan Avenue.

The Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office will perform an autopsy.
