No charges to be filed in St. Paul infant's death

Last update: November 9, 2009 - 9:49 PM

The Ramsey County attorney's office said Monday that it has declined to file charges in connection with the death of a 5-month-old boy in St. Paul this summer.

The boy's father had been arrested in late September but was released pending further investigation. The baby apparently asphyxiated after he was covered by a coat on a bed, authorities said.

According to a June 30 police report, officers were called to a building in the 200 block of Topping Street for a death investigation. Months of investigation went into the case and the reports recently were turned over to the county attorney's office.
