Guilty plea made in bilking of elderly mom

Last update: November 3, 2009 - 8:03 PM

A woman accused of bilking almost $22,000 from her elderly mother pleaded guilty Monday in Ramsey County District Court to one count of theft by swindle.

Lisa Beth Allred, 44, will be sentenced Jan. 5 by District Judge Teresa Warner.

Allred's mother, Virginia, gave her power of attorney to pay her nursing home bills after a series of strokes. Instead, Allred wrote checks to herself or to pay for groceries and personal items for herself.
