St. Paul Port Authority commissioners gave final approval Tuesday to two land sales on the city's East Side.
One, a parcel of former 3M Co. land, will be turned into a new headquarters for Health East Medical Transportation.
The second site, an old foundry, will become a commercial baking facility for longtime St. Paul company Baldinger Bakery.
The Health East deal calls for a 46,000-square-foot building to be built on 4.5 acres on the northwest corner of Arcade Street and Reaney Avenue.
It will house 120 workers and 50 ambulances. The building would be used for administration, communications, training and vehicle maintenance.
Health East is expected to spend about $4.5 million to construct the building. It will pay the Port Authority $425,000.
The bakery deal involves turning 9 acres into a 130,000-square-foot factory between Phalen Boulevard and Johnson Parkway.
At least 72 people would work there, and another 40 full-time jobs could be added over the next decade.
The company is expected to spend $30 million to build and equip the new factory. The company buying the land, K and B Real Estate Holdings, will pay the Port Authority $450,000.
Health East and Baldinger have existing facilities in the city, on the North End and West Side, respectively.
Both deals are expected to close by the end of the year.
