The family announced the money on Tuesday in hopes of expanding the search for Dan Zamlen.

THE LATEST: The family of the missing University of St. Thomas student is offering a $5,000 reward for information that could lead to finding Dan Zamlen.
Volunteers continue to comb the area in search of Zamlen, a St. Thomas freshman who vanished April 5 after leaving a party. Zamlen, a diabetic, was last believed to be at the intersection of Mississippi River Boulevard S. and St. Clair Avenue when his phone abruptly cut out.
Police efforts are now more focused on an investigation rather than a search, said Chris Ismil, head of the local search operations for Zamlen, who would have turned 19 last week.
VOLUNTEERS KEEP SEARCHING: This week and last week, volunteers from the Iron Range filled three to five buses to join the search in the Twin Cities for the Eveleth, Minn., native.
Although the website created for Zamlen's search, www.finddan.org, receives about 10 tips a day, the family announced the reward on Tuesday in hopes of expanding the search, Ismil said.
Anyone with information should call 651-962-6129.
