Two students at St. Paul Central High School died this week, school officials said Thursday. A third student died earlier this month.

Foul play is not suspected in any of the deaths, but officials acknowledged that the losses are likely to weigh heavily on classmates.

According to a letter Principal Mary Mackbee sent to parents, two seniors died Wednesday. One had been hospitalized for an unspecified length of time; the other died after "a medical emergency at a fitness center."

St. Paul schools spokeswoman Toya Stewart Downey said social workers and grief counselors have been deployed at Central and will be available to help students and staff members as long as they are needed.

"We are working with both families to support them during this difficult time," Mackbee wrote. "… If your child is having a particularly difficult time, please don't hesitate to call me. … Central continues to face these difficulties with strong support from our families, staff and the community, and for that, we are grateful."

The latest two students to die have not been identified. On Jan. 11, Fischer Anderson was taken to the hospital after going into cardiac arrest at Central and died the next day.
