St. Paul school board to hear from public Wednesday

  • Updated: April 23, 2013 - 7:32 PM

The St. Paul school board will host the last of a series of informal meetings with citizens in a listening session Wednesday at an East Side recreation center.

The 7 p.m. meeting, at the Dayton’s Bluff Recreation Center Auditorium/Theater, 800 Conway St., gives the public an opportunity to speak with members on an informal basis.

According to district spokeswoman Toya Stewart Downey, the board wants to know “what’s working, what’s not working and hear suggestions.”

Previous sessions were held at Four Seasons A+ Elementary and Jackson Preparatory Academy.

The sessions differ from the public comment periods that the board sets aside during its monthly meetings. On those occasions, people are subject to strict time limits, and board members rarely respond to comments.

The listening sessions allow for “informal and respectful discussions,” board materials state.
