Boy crossing St. Paul street at night hit by vehicle

An 11-year-old boy who witnesses say tried to run across a St. Paul street on Friday night was struck by a Ford Explorer.

An 11-year-old boy who witnesses say tried to run across a St. Paul street on Friday night was struck by a Ford Explorer, police say.

The boy was in critical condition today at Regions Hospital, with head injuries.

According to police:

Emergency responders arrived at DeSoto Street and Arlington Avenue just after 10:30 p.m. to find the boy in the street.

Police questioned the driver of the Explorer and booked him into Ramsey County Jail.

The driver is a 32-year-old St. Paul resident. He has not been charged.
