The car involved in a hit-and-run that seriously injured a 13-year-old boy in St. Paul could be a 1992 Buick Park Avenue, police said Wednesday.

The car's make and model were traced through a part number on a car mirror and plastic parts found at the scene of the accident on Monday.

Sgt. Paul Paulos, a police spokesman, said the car mirror might belong to the wanted car. It's unclear whether the parts belong to the car in question.

Brandon Smith, 13, was walking home from a neighborhood recreation center when he was hit near Grotto Street and University Avenue, about eight blocks from home.

Police found him unconscious in the street about five to 10 minutes after the accident.

He had been listed in critical condition at Gillette Children's Hospital, but his mother, Charlotte Igwe, said Tuesday that he was walking, talking, had no broken bones but had some hemorrhaging in his brain.

Paulos said no witnesses have come forward.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 651-266-5729.
