Body found in river near downtown St. Paul

Last update: May 7, 2008 - 7:10 PM

For the third time in less than a week, authorities have recovered a body from the Mississippi River near downtown St. Paul.

About 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, police were notified that a body was seen floating between a barge and a river wall south of the downtown airport.

The body was turned over to the Ramsey County medical examiner's office, but as of late Wednesday afternoon, it had yet to be identified, police spokesman Peter Panos said.

Authorities also had yet to identify a body found Monday near the High Bridge at Smith Avenue and Shepard Road, Panos said.

On Friday morning, the body of a man later identified as David Satterlee, 42, of St. Paul, was pulled from the river near the downtown airport.

Foul play was not suspected in any of the three cases, authorities have said.
