St. Paul psychologist: Guilty plea after fake rape report

Jill Ajao, 41, had made the rape claim to cover up an extramarital affair.

Last update: April 2, 2008 - 11:32 PM

A St. Paul psychologist has pleaded guilty to filing a false police report describing a rape that police called "uncharacteristically violent." Three months after the claim, they learned that the attack hadn't happened and that Jill Ajao had made the rape claim to cover up an extramarital affair.

Ajao, 41, pleaded guilty Tuesday to the misdemeanor.

Ramsey County District Judge M. Michael Monahan stayed imposition of a one-year sentence, ordered her to serve 20 days in jail, to pay $3,275 restitution, to get therapy and to follow recommendations of the Minnesota Board of Psychology in regards to her license.

According to the complaint filed last December by the St. Paul city attorney's office, Ajao's story changed several times after she initially called police on Oct. 26, 2006, and tearfully reported she had been raped by a man named Jeff in her Selby Avenue office two days earlier.
