Two men were shot shortly before noon Wednesday in St. Paul while in a car at Chatsworth Street and Concordia Avenue.

The victims were taken to Regions Hospital, said Sgt. Paul Paulos. Their conditions are not yet known.

Police said a suspect who was on foot shot into the vehicle while it was stopped at Rice Street and University Avenue.

It's unclear how many suspects there are, how many people were in the car and whether anyone in the car also fired shots, Paulos said. Police are investigating what led to the shooting.

No arrests have been made.

"It's just too early to say what happened," Paulos said.

St. Paul police have been working with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives to combat such crimes. Officials from both agencies along with community leaders will hold a previously planned news conference Thursday to discuss gun violence.
