A 32-year-old St. Paul woman was found dead Saturday morning, the victim of a homicide, at a residence in the Frogtown area of St. Paul, according to police.

A 26-year-old St. Paul man was taken into custody as a suspect.

Police responded to a 911 hangup call at a townhouse on the corner of W. Minnehaha Avenue and Victoria Street just after 6 a.m. Saturday, according to St. Paul police spokesman Sgt. Paul Paulos. There they found the woman, who has not been identified, unresponsive.

Neighbors offered police a suspect description, and he was found nearby in a taxicab, Paulos said. The man did not resist being taken into custody and is being held at the Ramsey County jail.

The killing isn't believed to be random. Investigators are trying to determine the relationship between the suspect and the victim.

According to driver's-license records, the suspect lives at the home where the woman was found. The woman did not live at the residence, Paulos said.

Paulos would not give details on the woman's manner of death, but he said no weapons have been located. The Ramsey County medical examiner is conducting an autopsy.

Police responded to the residence five times last year, Paulos said.

It was the city's third homicide this year.
