The Como Zoo’s twin polar bears, Neil and Buzz, celebrated their 16th birthdays Friday with two special cakes presented to them by the St. Paul zoo's staff.

Kids watched as Neil tried to get at the treats frozen into the 16 layers of goodies: fruit, fish, lard, vegetables, grapefruit drink, peanut butter and a new toy.

Buzz took a break to lick his chops while enjoying his birthday cake.

The bears moved into their new home, the Polar Bear Odyssey, in spring 2010.
