A 52-year-old St. Paul man was acquitted last week of charges that he sexually assaulted a 5-year-old girl whom his wife babysat.

A Ramsey County jury found Kou M. Vang not guilty of first-degree criminal sexual conduct.

"He always very vehemently maintained his innocence on the charges, so I'm glad he was able to be exonerated," said his attorney, Carolina Lamas.

Lamas said she hoped that the accusations against Vang wouldn't prevent him from finding work.

Vang's wife ran a day care out of their home and the girl attended the day care between June 2009 and October 2010, according to the charges.
