St. Paul Mayor Chris Coleman has promoted a staffer to be his next chief of staff.

Erin Dady, the city's director of marketing, will take over the position from Sara Grewing, who was recently appointed city attorney.

Dady, 33, joined Coleman's staff in 2006 after working on his mayoral campaign. She has helped bring big events, such as the 2008 Republican National Convention, to St. Paul.

As chief of staff, she will manage the mayor's office. She will supervise 13 people and a budget of about $2 million, according to proposed 2011 budget documents. Her salary will be $100,000.

Dady is a St. Paul native and graduate of Northwestern University.
