Auditions for a pair of plays in Northfield

The Northfield Arts Guild is planning auditions in the next two weeks for a pair of performances that will hit the stage this fall.

"The Singer Sisters," written by local playwright Marc Robinson, will play Nov. 5-21, and "Jessie Jane's Jamboree" will be presented Sept. 9-11 during Defeat of Jesse James Days.

"The Singer Sisters" is "a sweet comic drama about four sisters, a teenage son and the nice neighbor from down the road," according to the arts guild. The sisters have reunited after many years to celebrate their mother's birthday, but circumstances force them to celebrate in a way that they hadn't expected. There are four women's parts, with ages from 50 to 70; a part for a boy about age 16; and a part for a man age 60 to 70. Auditions are 4-6 p.m. June 6 and 7-9 p.m. June 7.

"Jessie Jane's Jamboree 4: Merry Mary" will feature "lighthearted melodrama, music and dancing." Many roles are available for adults of all ages and experience levels. Auditions are 7-10 p.m. next Wednesday and 1-3 p.m. June 6.

Auditions are at the Northfield Arts Guild Theater, 304 S. Division St. Those interested in auditioning should sign up by calling 507-645-8877. Go to www.northfieldartsguild.org for more information.
