WEEK OF FEB. 19
Property damage. The chief's report for the week of Feb. 19 noted there had been several days with intense fog, and in some areas visibility could be measured in feet. Officers responded to a report of a crash involving a truck and a semi on Cedar Avenue during a day when fog was especially heavy. The semi driver was attempting to make a U-turn, police said, and another truck came down the roadway and struck the semi trailer. No one was seriously injured. The semi driver was issued a citation for several violations.

FEB. 20
Disturbing the peace. A man called police to the 3200 block of Hill Ridge Drive on a complaint of noise coming from the address next door: thumping, thuds, jumping, throwing and wrestling at a drinking party, he said. He also said there had been disturbances in the past. Officers advised the people at the residence next door to keep the noise down.
FEB. 21
Burglary. Officers responded to an alarm at Blackhawk Liquor, 4130 Blackhawk Road. The first officer arriving saw the front-door glass was broken and spotted a man running west on Meadowlark. Within a couple of blocks, the officer in pursuit took a male suspect into custody at gunpoint near the north side of Meadowlark Court. Other officers arriving secured a perimeter and K-9 tracking was started for a possible second suspect. Another male was found, and a bag containing liquor bottles was found outside the store. The two suspects, both juveniles, were transported to a juvenile detention center.
FEB. 23
Damage to property. A woman reported damage to her garage in the 1500 block of Mallard Drive. She said when she came home for lunch she found the word "Satan" and a circled pentagram written in marker on her garage door. This had occurred two Tuesday mornings in a row.
FEB. 24
Animal call. A woman reported that three dogs were being walked off leash in the 4700 block of Hittner Point and that last Saturday they had run into a yard and scared the kids playing there. Officers left a note for the dogs' owner about the complaint and asking the owner to show the dogs' license at the police station.
FEB. 17
Emergency call. An officer was called to the 800 block of Hope Avenue on a 911 hang-up call. The homeowner stated that his 6-year-old son had been playing with the phone and there was no emergency. The officer spoke with the juvenile regarding the proper use of 911.
FEB. 19
Dispute. An officer was called to the 100 block of Hope Avenue regarding a juvenile female student who had walked out of school after having a disagreement with staff. She was located at another school attempting to call her parents for a ride home. She was transported to the police department and picked up by her father.
FEB. 20
Domestic incident. A patrol officer responded to the 100 block of Stuart Drive for a possible domestic incident involving an adult female and her juvenile niece. The officer spoke with both parties and found the argument to be verbal only. The juvenile's mother was contacted to pick up her daughter.
FEB. 21
Tenant dispute. At 5:22 p.m. an officer responded to a residence on Spruce Circle for assistance with removing an adult male who had been living there rent-free and was not on the lease. The man willingly left the residence.
Suspicious items. A resident called police to report some suspicious items found next to her home on Spruce Circle. An officer found a marijuana pipe, a knife and two pill bottles with marijuana seeds inside. The officer took the items to be destroyed.
Drugs. An officer stopped a vehicle at E. 2nd Street and S. Broadway Street for a vehicle equipment violation. The officer smelled an odor of marijuana from the vehicle. The officer's K-9 also alerted to the vehicle and drug paraphernalia was located. The adult male driver was issued a citation for possession of drug paraphernalia and no proof of insurance.
FEB. 17
Traffic. Officers responded to a report of an intoxicated driver in the area of 2400 NW. Mystic Lake Blvd. The driver, a 64-year-old Minneapolis man, was arrested for drunken driving, and his passenger, a 42-year-old Bloomington man, was arrested on a Hennepin County warrant for disorderly conduct.
FEB. 19
Drunken driving. A 21-year-old Rosemount man was arrested at Hwy. 3 and Lower 147th Street for fourth-degree drunken driving.
FEB. 21
Drunken driving. A 34-year-old Farmington man was arrested at W. 145th Street and Burnley Avenue for second-degree drunken driving.
FEB. 15
Vandalism. A resident of the 5600 block of W. 132nd Street reported her house had been egged. Footprints in the snow led to a neighbor's residence. Two 16-year-old girls denied involvement but cleaned up the mess. No charges were filed.
Theft. A Savage resident reported that his snowmobile and trailer were stolen from his driveway. The loss was estimated at $9,400.
FEB. 17
Disturbing the peace. Police were called to a disturbance across from the St. Francis Regional Medical Center, 1455 St. Francis Av. A 41-year-old St. Paul woman had become disruptive and was fleeing on foot, police said. She was arrested for interfering with the legal process. Tim Labatt • 612-288-8319
