District gets financial reporting award for 20th straight year

For the 20th year in a row, the Association of School Business Officials International has honored the Burnsville-Eagan-Savage school district for its financial reporting.

The district said it was one of 18 in the state to get the award this year and one of very few to be recognized so many years running.

Help name Shakopee's new school

What should the Shakopee school district name its new elementary school?

Community members with ideas should send them along to the district by Monday.

The new school is slated to open in fall 2011 near 17th Avenue and Marystown Road. Construction should start next spring.

Suggest a name by filling out a form at the district office or sending an e-mail to mburlage@shakopee.k12.mn.us. Include the educational, historical or regional significance of the name, as well as your name, address and phone number.

Interpreter honored by teachers' union

A Lakeville school sign language interpreter has been honored by the statewide teachers' union.

Education Minnesota recently chose Shelly Dodge as its 2009 Educational Support Professional of the Year.

Dodge works for Intermediate District 917.
