Shakopee's Straub makes Top 5 in 'Project Runway'

On Thursday night's "Project Runway," contestants had to outdo themselves. For Shakopee resident Christopher Straub, it was difficult to improve upon his past success.

The challenge was to create a companion piece that complemented and enhanced their best looks. For Straub, that was his winning look from the first week -- a petal-covered cocktail frock that guest judge Lindsay Lohan adored.

He won two challenges early on, but recently has been landing in the bottom three.

On Thursday night, his little dress became the inspiration for a full-length gown, with a sleek halter top and a giant ruffled bottom with his signature petal embellishments.

On the runway, the judges didn't think it improved on his earlier design. Nina Garcia thought it was too "bottom-heavy" and compared it to a "carnival float," and Heidi Klum, more than once, called it a "bed skirt."

In the end, Althea Harper won with paperbag-waist pants and an oversize sweater jacket, and Logan Neitzel went home with a zipper-laden dress. So Straub will have a chance to prove himself again as he sews on to the top five.
