AUG. 6
Theft. A resident in the 14400 block of Flora Way reported a theft of money and jewelry from her residence. She suspects a former employee who was given access to the house.
Theft. A laptop computer was stolen from the backseat of a vehicle parked in the 12900 block of Hialeah Path.
AUG. 10
Theft. A man called police to report his wallet was stolen by a cab driver who drove him home from a bar. As the taxi pulled up to his house he told the driver he would have to go inside to get the money to pay him. The taxi driver reportedly told him the only way he would allow that would be if he left his wallet with him and he would get the wallet back when he returned with the money. He said he then went into his house, used the bathroom, and got hungry and decided to make himself something to eat. After eating he went back outside and the taxi was gone.
AUG. 12
Robbery. A man reported that as he entered Hearthstone Apartments shortly after midnight two men came up behind him, pointed a gun at him and stole his wallet. He said that he thought the gun was plastic so he chased after them but lost them.
Thefts. A 16-year-old Apple Valley teenager was arrested after police received a report that a teenager was breaking into cars at the transit parking lot on Gaslight Drive. The boy was located and found in possession of several cell phones he had apparently stolen from cars. He was taken to the Dakota County Juvenile Detention Center in Hastings. He was released because he didn't have enough of a criminal arrest history to hold him.
AUG. 10
Mutual aid assist. Officers assisted with a police dog near the 13700 block of Aspen Grove Lane in Burnsville on a report of a break-in at a residence. The resident reported two men dressed in black with some sort of mask over their faces with a pistol had broken in through the patio door, came into her room, and pointed a gun at her head. They asked for money and threatened to kill her. Officers found clothing and a gun. The men were not found.
AUG. 11
Damage to property. Near the 4300 block of Dodd Road, vandalism to a vehicle occurred over the weekend. The left rear window was shattered by a rock or BB. Nothing was taken.
AUG. 12
Mutual aid assist. Eagan squads assisted the Department of Revenue at the Marathon station, 2000 Rahncliff Court, in an attempt to seize untaxed tobacco contraband illegally distributed from a minivan with Wisconsin plates. Police seized control of the van and its contents while the two occupants were inside a store. Officers then apprehended the two men inside.
AUG. 15
Robbery. Two men wearing blue masks robbed Leanne Chin's, 2071 Cliff Road. One held a handgun on employees while the other tied them up. Both were about 6 feet 2 inches and husky. No one was injured.
AUG. 10
Property damage. In the 900 block of Pine Street, officers arrested a man, 21, for fleeing a police officer and first-degree damage to property valued at more than $1,000.
AUG. 8
Theft. A black leather coat and a pair of black leather gloves were stolen from a saddle bag on a motorcycle on Broadway Street.
Suspicious person. A woman on the 200 block of Hooper Street thought she saw a person lying under a boat trailer covered by a tarp behind the garage in her neighbor's yard. Officers checked the area and did not find anything suspicious.
AUG. 10
Suspicion. Officers responded to a suspected burglary in the 100 block of S. Mertens Street. A resident returned home and found the front door open. The owner checked and nothing was missing. Police discovered the door handle was missing the latch and that was why it was open.
AUG. 10
Drugs. A man, 58, on the 18600 block of Highview Avenue was arrested for fifth-degree possession of a small amount of marijuana, sale of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
AUG. 12
Various. Near the 14500 block of S. Robert Trail, a man, 21, from Inver Grove Heights was arrested for criminal damage to property and disorderly conduct.
