Advice to disgruntled bank patrons: Never tell bank security you'll soon show up packing your pistol.

That's what Benita R. Taylor, of Apple Valley, allegedly did after she became irate with Wells Fargo, and it landed her in the Dakota County jail. The 42-year-old is set to appear in Dakota County District Court next month on a felony charge of making terroristic threats.

Taylor had called a Wells Fargo bank in Apple Valley on April 9, upset because the bank had transferred money from her savings account into her apparently overdrawn bank account. She spoke with a bank employee, and the criminal complaint alleges this happened next:

"Taylor told the employee if the funds were not returned to her account, she would be bringing a gun into the bank to get her money back. The employee reported the conversation to a security officer, who then called Taylor. When the security agent asked Taylor if she meant her threat to bring a gun into the bank, Taylor stated, 'Yes, I can carry a gun with a permit, and if I'm forced to use it I will.'"

"When the security agent attempted to explain the money transfer to Taylor, she again stated that if the funds were not returned to her account by the morning, she would bring a gun to the bank."

Police went to Taylor's apartment and took her to jail on a felony charge that could lead to as many as five years in jail and a $10,000 fine if she is convicted. She was released on her personal recognizance and is to appear in court June 15.
