A woman and a man were booked on suspicion of murder Thursday in connection with the killing of 42-year-old James Herron in Prior Lake, which led to a police chase that ended when police shot another man suspected in the slaying, authorities said.

The female suspect, 39, was booked into Scott County Jail about 10:30 a.m. Thursday on suspicion of second-degree murder and a related charge, according to online jail records. The male suspect, 27, was booked on suspicion of similar charges.

The Star Tribune generally doesn't name suspects who haven't been charged. A third suspect, an unidentified man, was taken to an area hospital, after being hit by police bullets after authorities say he fired at pursuing officers.

Law enforcement officials previously declined to say whether he will survive his injuries. His condition was not known on Thursday.

The trio are suspects in the slaying of Herron, who was found in his home in the 2100 block of Sioux Trail NW., near Mystic Lake Casino, before being taken to a nearby hospital, where he died.

Authorities said that as officers were arriving at the house, a car was seen leaving the scene and a chase ensued.

The chase eventually ended before 3 a.m., near the Bren Road-Londonderry Road exit to Hwy. 169 in Edina, where, according to authorities, one of the suspects fired at police as he tried to flee on foot.
