Classes at Prior Lake High School are going on today under close watch by police after two bomb threats were made against the school this week. In addition after-school activities have been canceled for today, police said.
Extra police were on hand this morning and searched all backpacks and jackets of students and staff as they entered the building. Authorities also have restricted access to the school by allowing entry and exit only through the main entrances, said Sgt. Dave Muelken of Savage Police.
Police said two threats surfaced Tuesday. One of the threats referred to Wednesday and the second to Thursday. Savage police officers, school staff and dogs from the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport Police conducted a sweep of the campus at 7575 W. 150th Street and "found nothing suspicious," Muelken said.
Muelken did not specify the nature of the threats, only saying that they were directed against the facility.
Prior Lake-Savage Superintendent sent an email to parents to inform them of the threat, according to news posted on the school district's web site.
This is the fourth time in a little over a year that police are investigating a bomb threat at the school. Muelken said it's not clear if any of the threats are related.
No one has been arrested in any of the threats. Police are offering a reward for information that leads to an arrest and conviction of those responsible, Muelken said.
