Homeowners can get rid of geese using these methods:
• Vigorously shake a broom, or put out a feisty dog or a wolf effigy to frighten or haze geese.
• Use bird-scare tape, in silver or colored ribbon, from certain garden and hardware stores.
• For more severe situations, use energized fencing, which can be battery-powered or 120-volt.
• Barrier fencing can help block geese from coming onto your property.
• Landscape with hedges, tall grass or a dense strip of trees and shrubs 30 inches or taller.
• Rejex-it is the only Canada goose repellent registered for use in Minnesota. Made from food ingredients, it can be used in temperatures above 45 degrees. www.rejexit.com.
