A Wisconsin man, while teaching in Shakopee and employed at a Twin Cities community theater, sent inappropriate text messages to a teenage boy he met in the drama group, police said.

Andrew Scott Hasty, 34, of Cumberland, Wis., is charged with three felonies stemming from soliciting sex from a minor after police say he asked a 15-year-old boy to send photographs of his genitals.

Hasty, who has since been placed on administrative leave from Shakopee Public Schools, met the juvenile while working on staff at the Chaska Valley Family Theater group. He has since resigned his position there.

According to the Carver County Sheriff's Office:

Deputies responded to a complaint of an adult male sending inappropriate messages to a 15-year-old boy around 9:57 a.m. on Feb. 16. The messages contained statements such as, "I want you" and "I wish you were mine but I'm ashamed."

The previous month, the minor received a message from Hasty specifically asking him to send photos of his genitals.

An investigation led to the arrest Monday of Hasty in Shakopee. He was charged with soliciting a child to engage in sexual conduct, plus two other related charges.

Police said there is no evidence indicating that Hasty solicited other children, but investigators continue to conduct forensic analysis on his computers and other electronic devices.

Hasty is being held in the Carver County jail pending $10,000 cash bail or $100,000 bond. His next court appearance is Friday.
