Passes being sold for city’s water park

Shakopee’s sandy-bottom aquatics park opens next month, and the city is selling individual and family memberships.

SandVenture Aquatic Park offers slides, a diving board, a beach, and concessions. It opens for the summer on Saturday, June 7.

Following are prices for resi­dents and nonresidents, with the latter being the larger figure: Individuals: Under 48 inches tall, $52/$69.50; taller than that, $63.50/$81; seniors: $52/$69.50; families (four or more), $219/$275.50

Shakopee Community Center members get a 25 percent discount on an equivalent SandVenture membership (for instance, if you have a family membership at the center, you can get a family discount at the water park).

To obtain a membership, stop by the center, 1255 Fuller St., before June 7 or at SandVenture itself after that. Forms are available at

SandVenture, 1101 Adams St. S., is open each day, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., from June 7 through Aug. 24, weather permitting.

Prior Lake

Free outdoor movies at Lakefront Park

Free movies under the stars will be offered this summer at Lakefront Park, near downtown Prior Lake.

Organizers suggest bringing a chair, blankets, bug spray and snacks, although limited concessions will be available.

It’s for all ages, and showings begin at dusk.

The city is listing these films and dates:

• June 27, “Frozen”

• Aug. 1, “Despicable Me 2”
