Passes being sold for city’s water park
Shakopee’s sandy-bottom aquatics park opens next month, and the city is selling individual and family memberships.
SandVenture Aquatic Park offers slides, a diving board, a beach, and concessions. It opens for the summer on Saturday, June 7.
Following are prices for residents and nonresidents, with the latter being the larger figure: Individuals: Under 48 inches tall, $52/$69.50; taller than that, $63.50/$81; seniors: $52/$69.50; families (four or more), $219/$275.50
Shakopee Community Center members get a 25 percent discount on an equivalent SandVenture membership (for instance, if you have a family membership at the center, you can get a family discount at the water park).
To obtain a membership, stop by the center, 1255 Fuller St., before June 7 or at SandVenture itself after that. Forms are available at www.ShakopeeMN.gov/sandventure.
SandVenture, 1101 Adams St. S., is open each day, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., from June 7 through Aug. 24, weather permitting.
If the weather is questionable, call a hot line at 952-233-9502.
Free outdoor movies at Lakefront Park
Free movies under the stars will be offered this summer at Lakefront Park, near downtown Prior Lake.
Organizers suggest bringing a chair, blankets, bug spray and snacks, although limited concessions will be available.
It’s for all ages, and showings begin at dusk.
The city is listing these films and dates:
• June 27, “Frozen”
• Aug. 1, “Despicable Me 2”
No registration is required.
