JULY 17
Suspicious person. Police received a report of a man in the area of Johnny Cake Ridge Road between Thomas Lake and Oak Ridge exposing himself and touching himself. He was described as a balding white male with navy blue or black short shorts, stocky build and about 190 pounds.
JULY 18
Burglary. A desktop computer, a monitor, an iPod and a digital camera valued at $2,000 were stolen in the 1700 block of Covington Lane sometime after 7 a.m. Blood was left at the scene and a DNA swab was taken as part of the investigation.
JULY 14
Harassment. A woman reported receiving harassing telephone calls. The incident occurred on Olympic Hills Circle.
JULY 18
Solicitation. Report of a solicitor on Arabian Court. Officer located the male and advised him he needed a permit from the city of Jordan. He left the area.
JULY 20
Traffic. An officer stopped a vehicle on N. Varner Street for an equipment violation. The driver was arrested on an active Scott County warrant and transported to Scott County Jail.
JULY 10th - 17th
14 traffic crashes, 36 alarms, 41 animal complaints, 31 medical emergencies, 31 thefts, and 222 traffic stops. Two separate crashes stood out because they happened on the same shift one day last week and involved 11 cars. A six-vehicle crash on 160th Street occurred when a car traveling at a high speed crashed into other vehicles stopped at a traffic light. Though people were injured, the driver of the car attempted to flee the area but officer Jeremy Lerfald, responding to the call, gave chase and caught the driver. The officer returned the suspect to the scene for witnesses to identify. Charges filed were: no insurance, leaving the scene of a personal injury crash, driving after revocation, drunken driving and criminal vehicular operation. The second crash involved five vehicles when several young drivers were traveling down the road in a close group. The front two cars braked unexpectedly and the three cars tailing crashed into the lead cars. Three citations were issued. No one was injured.
JULY 11
Family Crime. Officers received a report of three young children left unattended in a vehicle. The officers made contact with the 7- and 8-year-old children and advised their mother. No charges were filed.
Theft. Officers received a report of a gas drive off in the amount of $64.18. A 49-year-old woman from New Prague was contacted and she said thought she had paid for the gas with her credit card.
JULY 14
Fireworks. A 17-year-old male from Burnsville was cited for throwing fireworks at a motor vehicle after officers received a complaint of someone throwing fireworks out of a vehicle. This occurred on Hwy. 13 near McColl Drive.
JULY 7
Theft. A man, 87, was cited for shoplifting and disorderly conduct in the 8100 block of N. Old Carriage Circle.
