Lawyer gets nod as state Bar president

An Eagan resident is on track to become the first Minnesota State Bar Association president of known American Indian heritage.

Leo Brisbois, 47, became president-elect of the association this month. Brisbois, who grew up in Hibbing, graduated from Hamline University School of Law in St. Paul. He's a lawyer at the Minneapolis firm of Stich, Angell, Kreidler & Dodge.

Brisbois' father, Gabriel, is a member of the White Earth Band of Ojibwe Indians.

Heart of the City gets new food vendor

A new food service called My Picnic Basket is dishing up food at Nicollet Commons Park, at Burnsville's Heart of the City, on Nicollet Avenue north of Hwy. 13.

Dishes include chicken kabob prepared Latin style and a variety of hot dogs. Food is served over the lunch hour on weekdays, and evenings on Friday through Sunday through the end of park events or 8 p.m.

Since 2004, Tillie Willie and Jo's Popcorn Wagon have also been vendors at the park.
