Continued: South news briefs: Two books featured in readings for kids

The event is 5:30 p.m. Saturday at the Church of St. Michael, 22120 Denmark Av., Farmington.

What the group describes as its “famous, homemade, mouthwatering, to-die-for meat balls” accompany spaghetti at a cost of $8 for adults, $5 for children 6-12, and a maximum of $25 for families. Children 5 and under are free.

Prizes to be given away include turkeys and hams.

The Knights are a Catholic fraternal organization.


Used book sale at Pleasant Hill Library Feb. 28-March 2

The Friends of the Pleasant Hill Library will host its annual winter used book sale from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Feb. 28 and March 1 and 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. March 2 in the meeting room of the library, 1490 S. Frontage Road in Hastings.

Many items will be for sale, including gently used hardcover and paperback books, DVDs, CDs, video and audiocassettes, puzzles and games. Items for children, teens and adults will be sold.

Proceeds are used to fund and enhance library services and programs. For more information on the sale, e-mail or call the library at 651-438-0200.
