A motorist crossed into oncoming traffic southeast of Rosemount, collided with an SUV and suffered fatal injuries, authorities said Tuesday.

Susanne E. Preda, 39, of Roseville, was removed from life support Monday at Regions Hospital, according to the Dakota County Sheriff's Office.

The crash occurred about 7:55 p.m. Friday along 160th Street near Barbara Avenue in Empire Township, according to the Sheriff's Office. The three people in the SUV were treated for minor injuries.

According to the Sheriff's Office:

Preda was heading west on 160th in her car and "abruptly crossed the center line directly in front" of the eastbound SUV.

The SUV struck the car toward the rear of the passenger side and spun the smaller vehicle into the ditch.

Deputies arrived and found Preda belted in, unconscious and without a pulse.

An off-duty Hastings firefighter saw the crash and began resuscitation that revived Preda's heartbeat.

Preda was brought to Regions in critical condition. Family members allowed her to be removed from life support late Monday.

Authorities have yet to say why Preda's car crossed into the opposite lane.
