The Dakota County Public Art Citizen Advisory Committee has extended the deadline for entries into its upcoming exhibit, "Heroes of Today.'' It is giving sixth- through eighth-grade students who live in Dakota County until Feb. 3 to submit art work.

The exhibit will run from March to September at the Dakota County Western Service Center, 14955 Galaxie Av., Apple Valley.

Artists must live in Dakota County, and their artwork should be ready for hanging. Entries are limited to one per person. Digital images of submissions may be e-mailed to jean.erickson@co.dakota.mn.us or mailed to Jean Erickson at Dakota County Public Services & Revenue Division, 1590 Hwy. 55, Hastings, MN 55033, by the deadline of Feb. 3.

Theater group seeking new plays for contest

Burnsville's Chameleon Theatre Circle is seeking submissions for its annual new play contest, and the winners will be showcased in the group's new play festival in September.

Any original works that have never been produced are welcome, in all styles and genres. Winners will be chosen in categories including 10-minute plays, one-act plays, full-length plays, musicals, theater for youth, overall winner and audience favorite.

All shows submitted will be considered for the theater group's 2015-16 season.

The deadline is April 30. Entrants must complete an entry form, found at www.chameleontheatre.org/newplay, and submit it along with three copies of each script to Chameleon Theatre Circle New Play Contest, 7287 153rd St. W., #240069, Apple Valley, MN, 55124.
