I disagree with the South Extra "Voices" letter from John Raustadt of Prior Lake. He said that climate talk should be kept off the weather page, and he castigated Paul Douglas. I love Paul Douglas' snippets of information and thoroughly enjoy reading everything he has to say. I look forward each morning to reading at the paper to see what Mr. Douglas has written for the day.

Did somebody do a little pillaging? What kind of scoundrel would have broken in and stolen priceless jewel-encrusted objects from the archbishop's castle? Maybe it was the Vikings.

Rekindling a link to famed Dan PatchI read with interest your article on Dan Patch in the June 22 issue of Star Tribune. I have since purchased the book "Crazy Good" but have not had a chance to read it yet.
I was particularly interested because my grandfather on my mother's side, John Driscoll, was a fireman on the Great Northern railroad for 50 years, and as such was the only employee allowed to load and unload Dan Patch when he was transported by train. John was fireman on what was called the "Number One Spot," the engine that was displayed in the lobby of the railroad station in downtown St. Paul for many years.
Thank you for a most interesting article.

Prison sentence too much for pot dealerA Burnsville man was just sentenced to 10 years in prison for selling marijuana. You've got to be kidding me! Ten years for dealing marijuana? A natural herb that's never killed anybody? That's going to cost Minnesota taxpayers $35,000 a year! That's $300,000 we can't afford. This man is a nonviolent offender. Our prisons are already so overcrowded that dangerous, violent offenders are let out early to make room for the newest law-breaker, like a marijuana dealer.
