'Jingle Bells, Batman Smells' opening

A popular series of children's books hit the stage when the Lakeville Area Arts Center presents "Junie B. Jones" in "Jingle Bells, Batman Smells" beginning this weekend.

Performances will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Dec. 20-21 and Dec. 27-28, and at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 22-23 and Dec. 29.

With more than 50 million books in print, Barbara Park's bestselling chapter book series Junie B. Jones is a classroom favorite. In the 25th Junie B. Jones book, it's holiday time, and Room One is doing lots of fun things to celebrate, like making elf costumes and singing holiday songs. But Junie B.'s holiday spirit is challenged by Tattletale May, and it gets worse when Junie B. gets stuck being her Secret Santa.

Women of Note plan Christmas concert

The Eagan Women of Note community choir will hold its annual Christmas concert, "Carols Old and New," at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, 3930 Rahn Road, Eagan.

Tickets are $5. In addition to the concert, there will be a cookie sale and silent auction for gift baskets.

The choir also will perform at the Crystal Court of the IDS building in Minneapolis at noon on Dec. 21. Anyone interested in arranging a performance by the group should contact Rosemary at 651-699-5778.

The group was founded in 1999 with the support of the city of Eagan Parks and Recreation Department and the Eagan Men's Chorus, and it has grown from a group of 18 women to almost 60, according to its website, www.eaganwomenofnote.org.

Honky-tonk Christmas

Honky-tonk band Trailer Trash will bring their "Trashy Little Xmas Show" back to Northfield's Grand Event Center on Friday.

Trailer Trash has been performing the holiday revue for more than 18 years to sold-out audiences in Minneapolis and Rochester, revamping Christmas classics and adding some festive originals.

Doors open at 7 p.m. and music starts at 8:30 p.m. Tickets are $12 in advance and $15 at the door and can be purchased at the KYMN Radio studios, 200 Division St., and online at www.thegrandnorthfield.com and www.trailertrashmusic.com. The Grand is located at 316 Washington St.

Since 1993, Trailer Trash has been a fixture at the legendary Lee's Liquor Lounge in downtown Minneapolis. With its mix of country, rock and roots music, the band proudly labels itself "Minnesota's premier honky-tonk band."

INVER GROVE HEIGHTS

College's holiday art sale ends Friday

Inver Hills Community College is in the middle of its annual holiday art sale at the Inver Hills Art Gallery in the Fine Arts Building. The final three days are Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

The sale is a fundraiser for Inver Hills art scholarships, with 30 percent of every sale going to that purpose.

The hours are 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday and 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Friday. The fine arts building is at 2500 E. 80th St., Inver Grove Heights. Contact the gallery at 651-450-3101.
