A Rosemount woman and a man from Morton, Minn., were charged Wednesday in Dakota County District Court with third-degree murder for allegedly giving heroin to another man who died last month in Rosemount from an overdose.

Jennifer L. Spicer, 29, and Timothy P. Bednarchuk, 22, are accused of causing the death of Robert E. Trentman, 29, whose driver's license lists his address as Lakeville.

According to the charges, police were called to Spicer's home on Sept. 8, where they found Trentman, her boyfriend, dead. An autopsy showed that he died from a mixture of heroin and alcohol.

Spicer told officers that she called Bednarchuk, who agreed to buy heroin for the couple. Bednarchuk and Spicer dropped Trentman off at a nearby bar, then drove to Brooklyn Center, where Spicer gave Bednarchuk $80 and he bought two baggies of the drug. He used some, then dropped Spicer off at the bar to meet up with Trentman. Spicer said she and Trentman returned to her home and both snorted the heroin. When Spicer woke up the next morning, she said, Trentman was not breathing.
